A Day In Assisi....

In Umbria, we hired a car so that we could have some independence, and do a bit of exploring.
It all sounded like a good idea, however we found driving fairly challenging (read horrendous.)

Never the less we did spend a day exploring Assisi, and it was just beautiful.
Perfect sunny weather and so many things to see.
It was a definite highlight of the trip.

Looking out over the countryside, from Assisi.
The stone work was all a beautiful soft colour, at times almost pink.

Up towards Santa Chiara.
Every little space seems to be built on, no matter how steep the ground.

Typical street, although they're not all this flat.

Lots of interesting twists and turns, over and under buildings and streets.

More of the incredible view.

Not much garden, but lots of pot plants.

Lovely iron work, so many arts and crafts in evidence.
