Campbells Wines of Rutherglen...

The entrance with a little Autumn colour.

Various specialty products available for purchase.

Some of their famous wine.

A bit of the history of the company, so many ups and downs.

We enjoyed the ambience and the friendly service,
thanks Campbells for being part of a lovely visit to Rutherglen.

Visit To Olive Hills Estate...

On a recent trip to Rutherglen we stumbled upon this lovely property...
This is the charming old shed where you can taste and purchase the estates wine,
or it can be hired out for functions.
The view over to the old house as you come up the drive.

The outdoor entertaining area, the brick structure is a kind of fire place...

The entrance with smoked glass windows.

Looking out from inside the shed.

The entrance again.
Just lovely, especially with a bit of Autumn glow.

Combine with the same quantity of home made Mayo...
Tomorrow I'll know if it's got much of a kick!

What's For Dinner...

Trevally poached in White wine, garnished with sautéed tomato and  Puff Pastry,
 with creamy Spinach.

With a glass of Rose  Wine... delicious.
I followed an old recipe with so much Egg, Butter and Cream
that entrée size is really enough for Main course.

Scenic Drive To The You Yangs...

On Saturday I took a drive out to the You Yang Ranges.
It's on the road to Geelong you just turn right at Little River.
The area has rugged landscape and lots of low growing trees and rocky outcrops.

A lovely little Lizard  kept us entertained at lunch, don't know his species,
but he was so well camoflaged
you could hardly see him in the surrounding environment.

The view looking back out to the bay.

It was a lovely day and a lovely country drive.

Guest Post...

This is the Pie and the recipe that was made from the 'windfall apples' from Nundle,
courtesy of my sister Elizabeth.

Recipe for Mum and Nana's Apple short cake

Soften 4oz butter (120g)
Mix in 2 eggs with whisk
And 2 tablespoons sugar
Then mix in 2 cups of SR flour with a knife
Turn onto floured board and knead into soft dough
Cut 1/3 off for top
Roll the other 2/3 of dough out on floured surface and line a pie tin.
Nana used to fill with hot cooked apple to start the cooking of the base straight away.
Roll out remaining 1/3 dough, brush a little milk around edge.
Place over apple and press around edge with fingers to seal the pie
Brush with a little milk
Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar
Cut a small hole in the top to let steam out
Bake in pre heated moderate oven for about 30 minutes or until golden
Serve with cream or custard or both
Enjoy
You can add rhubarb to the apple as Nana used to.

Double Dad.... outside the Antique shop in Nundle.

Apple Picking With Penny....Country Style...

At Nundle we came upon some Apple trees laden with fruit
which had dropped sweet little Apples all over the ground.
It was a perfect opportunity to pick a bag
to take home to make Apple Pie.
