Sunset in Lido...

Lovely canal views on an evening walk in Lido.

Sun just setting.

A bit of night fall.

Staying on Lido...

We stayed on the resort island of Lido, which is one of the islands of Venice.
It was at the very end of the summer season so the beach was in full use, bathing boxes and cafes and all.
It was so charming and relaxed, we loved it a lot.

When we arrived we headed straight to the beach,
and found this lovely cafe where we stopped for lunch.

Looking out over the Adriatic, and you can just see some bathing boxes in the forground.

Our apartment had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. This is the second bedroom.
all up the top of the building .

Main bedroom with longue.

View from the observation deck.

Decorative piece in the vestibule.

Artisan Roast ...

While staying with Alex and Grant, we went to lots of cafes in Edinburgh.
This is a little look inside the one where Alex works.
It's tiny and interesting, and they are known for their fabulous coffee.

The back room...

Coffee plunger light shade.

Guess who.

More of the back lounge.

You can use coffee sacks for just about anything.

Coffee ready for sale.

Looking out to the front, and that's right ' J K Rolling never wrote there'.

La Maison Du Roy....

Back to the arcades of Paris, this shop was an exquisite mix of real and copied french decoration and home wares, it was really beautiful.
Despite the bulging luggage we both bought things to take home.

The front window

Lamps and glass wear.

Up stairs there was more furniture.

Like this.

Strange and amazing sculptures made by an artist from among other things, tissue paper.

Light fitting detail.

Our First City Doha...

After leaving Melbourne on the Tuesday night, we arrived in Doha in the mid afternoon.
It's an amazing city, it's all under construction, rising out of the desert.
Such a lot of contrasts to what we would see on the rest of out journey.

Skyscrapers covered in glass.
So many different buildings all under construction.

You see cranes everywhere.

The weather was So Hot...felt like 40, with a northerly wind,
you couldn't be outside long, even in the evening.

The street and the traffic.

Some traditional styles.
Very unusual architecture.
